Premier Padel Paris 2022

Good and torrid evenings from Paris, friends of Padel Island . Today was the grand final of the Paris Major Premier Padel , so this will be our last blog post about this tournament.

First of all, we want to tell you that, just as we predicted yesterday, although the Philippe Chatrier court at Roland Garros wasn't completely sold out, there couldn't have been many tickets left to sell. A huge crowd was fully engaged with this wonderful sport, and the sport's popularity continues to grow throughout Europe and the world, with France certainly being no exception. The rise of padel is unstoppable, and that excites and delights us all. The game was impeccable, the atmosphere impeccable, the organization impeccable, the crowd impeccable... what more could you ask for?

And getting to the point… the final didn't disappoint anyone. We saw incredible points, stratospheric smashes, beastly volleys, impossible drop shots, and defenses rarely seen before. Both pairs gave it their all on the court and put on a wonderful show.

The match was very close, in fact, it went to a third set which was decided by a single break of serve. Galán/Lebrón lived up to their status as world number ones and perhaps handled the pressure better than Tello/Chingotto, the number four ranked pair. Galán/Lebrón took the first set 6-3 thanks to a break on Chingotto's serve, a closer and more even match than the scoreline might suggest. Tello/Chingotto took the second set 6-4 with a very similar style of play to the first, but this time they managed to break Galán's serve. And in the final set, where anything could happen, another break on Chingotto's serve gave the Spaniards the decisive advantage to win this grand final.

This unprecedented final, and the tournament in general, has left us with a great feeling. We see the number 1 seeds on an impeccable and overwhelming form, but we also believe that the level of the top five or six pairs is rising considerably and that a great equality between all of them will be the dominant theme for the rest of the season.

And that's about all for now. We're already looking forward to the Premier Padel Madrid P1 in the first week of August and returning to cover everything that happens from here. A big hug and greetings to all our followers from Padel Island .

P.S. Dear readers, we don't know if you've noticed that below you can comment, discuss, share your opinions, or do whatever you like about what we write here or about anything else related to the tournament. We encourage you to do so to make this space a place for exchanging ideas and, therefore, more enriching.

Good evening once again to our friends at Padel Island . We'll be sharing the most interesting news from today's Paris Major Premier Padel semi-final matches.

The day can only be described as surprising. On the one hand, it was much shorter than expected, with both matches decided in a couple of sets. On the other hand, the ease with which the number 1 pair (Galán/Lebrón) dispatched the number 3 pair (Lima/Stupa) was also surprising. Although the match started evenly, the Spaniards broke serve to take a 3-1 lead in the first set, and from that moment on, every single game went their way until they achieved a final score of 6-1, 6-0. Nobody could have predicted such a match or result. The number 1 pair demonstrated impeccable form and a simply brutal level of play.

In the second match, the game was much closer, especially in the first set, where neither the number 2 seeds (Navarro/Di Nenno) nor the number 4 seeds (Tello/Chingotto) conceded a single break. It was in the tiebreak that the Argentinians showed more composure and accuracy, closing out the set 7-2. The second set, which also went to the Argentinians, was also very close, although a break of Di Nenno's serve in the fourth game proved decisive, as the Spaniards were unable to break back.

Tomorrow we have a first-ever final; no tournament in this new competition has ever featured these two pairs as finalists. Although the Spaniards seem to be slight favorites, it's clear that Tello and Chingotto are playing exceptionally well, and any result is possible.

The match starts at 3:00 PM and it's going to be a great one to watch. We'll be covering everything on our blog. If it's not packed yet, it'll be very close. Good night and sweet dreams to all you padel players!

Good evening from Paris, Padel Island teammates and friends. Today we've had another thrilling day, enjoying an incredibly high level of padel. The padel keeps getting better and better, and the crowds are growing and becoming more and more enthusiastic at this Paris Major Premier Padel .

Although the matches were beautiful and generally very competitive, once again this afternoon we didn't witness any major surprises. The results, it could be said, were as expected, with the highest-ranked pairs in each match advancing to tomorrow's semifinals. One could argue that the number 1 pair (Galán/Lebrón) and the number 2 pair (Navarro/Di Nenno) had the easiest matches, but that wouldn't be fair to their opponents (Bela/Coello and Leal/Rico, respectively), who put up a tremendous fight and made them work hard for it.

It is striking that on this day all the matches have been decided in two sets, when in theory the levels of the pairs should be more equal than yesterday, when almost all needed to reach three.

The first four pairs remain in contention and will face off tomorrow in the brackets published by the FIP on their website below. The first match starts at 3:00 PM, and we recommend finding a large TV and a comfortable sofa to fully enjoy the afternoon of padel that awaits us.

That's all for tonight. We'll have more news tomorrow and tell you how the day went. Cheers and best wishes to all you padel players!

Good evening once again , Padel Island friends, from Paris. Today we had a wonderful day of padel, just as we anticipated yesterday. The matches began simultaneously at 2:00 PM on the Philippe Chatrier court and on court number 3 for the round of 16 of the tournament.

Larger audience than in previous days and a very good atmosphere in the stands.

In all the matches, to a greater or lesser extent, there has been a high level of competition and some very high-level rallies. Almost every match, including the one between the number 1 ranked pair Galán/Lebrón, went to a third set. All the pairs ranked higher than their opponents advanced to the quarterfinals, with the only exception being the victory of J. Leal/J. Rico (10) over A. Ruíz/J. Gonzáles (6). It's fair to say, therefore, that we haven't had any particularly surprising results.

Tomorrow the quarterfinals begin, four exciting matches featuring seven Argentinian players, seven Spanish players, and two Brazilian players. The all-Argentine clash between Capra/Sánchez and Chingotto/Tello is a highlight.

We've included the schedule and order of the matches according to the FIP's published schedule on their website.

Tomorrow will be even better, as always. Greetings to all our friends and good night.

Good evening friends of Padel Island , as we announced yesterday on our Instagram account, we will be commenting on our blog, between now and the day of the final, about the results and most interesting issues of the Paris Major Premier Padel that started last Monday.

First of all, it should be noted, as you probably already know, that the tournament is being held at the legendary Roland Garros facilities and that, in addition to the play we are already seeing and that we have yet to enjoy, it is going to be an unforgettable tournament because the setting is simply SPECTACULAR.

Today the round of 32 was played, with all 16 seeded pairs now in action, and there were no surprises. All of them advanced to the next round, although it's true that quite a few had to go to a third set to win their matches.

Tomorrow's schedule promises to be exciting, as we will see some matches where some of the top-seeded pairs will face each other.

At night, as is our custom on this blog, we will tell you everything there is to say, without going into boring or irrelevant details.

That's all for today, greetings to everyone from the beautiful City of Lights. Good evening!
